Overall Curriculum Expectations

Language development plays a crucial role in a student’s intellectual, social, and emotional growth and is an essential component of the curriculum. At Atlas Learning Zone, we believe that literacy is vital for responsible and productive citizenship. Therefore, our curriculum is designed to equip students with the knowledge and skills required to achieve this goal.

In grade 7, students are encouraged to discuss and write about topics that are relevant and meaningful to their daily lives. Our language expectations focus on consolidating students’ language knowledge, skills, and strategies, enabling them to use these independently and effectively to understand, reflect on, apply, and communicate information and ideas for continued learning in school and in a multicultural, multimedia world.

The language curriculum is divided into four strands:

  • Oral Communication
  • Reading
  • Writing
  • Media Literacy
