The Grade 5 Arts curriculum encourages learners to be creative every day.
In Grade 5 Dance, learners expand their movement vocabulary in response to various stimuli, select appropriate forms, and manipulate dance elements, including relationship, time, and energy to create choreography.
The Grade 5 Drama curriculum builds upon the drama forms and conventions, with learners gaining a better understanding and greater competence as they incorporate more movement/dance connections, storytelling, prepared improvisation and short scenes, day in the life, inner/outer circle, and corridor of voices.
Grade 5 Music students develop the ability to read music notation and apply their knowledge of music elements through performing (singing, moving, playing instruments), creating, and listening.
Grade 5 Visual Arts students apply the elements of design to communicate for various purposes and on multiple themes, with a focus on connecting to personal experiences in their world.
The Arts curriculum is structured into four strands:
- Dance
- Drama
- Music
- Visual Arts
