Curriculum

Overall Curriculum Expectations

In this grade, students will apply various social-emotional learning skills to support their use of the mathematical processes and their learning in connection with the expectations in the other five strands of the mathematics curriculum. This is to promote a positive identity as a math learner, foster well-being, build resilience, and thrive. Students will learn to identify and manage emotions they may feel, such as pride, confusion, fear, and excitement, as they work with algebra and multiplication using rows and columns.
The mathematics curriculum is divided into six strands:

  • Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) Skills in Mathematics and the Mathematical Processes
  • Number
  • Algebra
  • Data
  • Spatial Sense
  • Financial Literacy
