Overall Curriculum Expectations

Science is an essential way of knowing that seeks to describe and explain the natural and physical world around us. At Atlas Learning Zone, we recognize the importance of making connections between scientific concepts and real-world applications.

Our science curriculum is designed to develop important scientific literacy and technological skills that will enable students to become active problem solvers in their communities and thrive in today’s rapidly changing world.

As students engage in STEM education, our curriculum goals are to inspire a sense of wonder about the world, foster curiosity, and investigate problems related to science, technology, society, and the environment.

The science and technology curriculum is organized into five strands:

  • STEM Skills and Connections
  • Life Systems: Growth and Changes in Animals
  • Matter and Energy: Properties of Liquids and Solids
  • Structures and Mechanisms: Simple Machines and Movement
  • Earth and Space Systems: Air and Water in the Environment
