In Grade 1 arts curriculum, students are encouraged to express their creativity on a daily basis.
In Dance, learners will use their personal experiences, imagination, and familiar movements to develop a movement vocabulary. They will respond to prompts, express their ideas, and communicate their thoughts and emotions in various situations.
Drama explores students’ sense of self, family, personal experiences, and the world around them. Through guided practice, they will develop creative and critical thinking skills, building upon their prior knowledge and experiences from diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds.
In Music, students will experience and explore the different elements of music through singing, listening to, and moving to a variety of songs, rhymes, and chants.
In Visual Arts, learners will explore the art in their immediate environment and develop an understanding that art is enjoyed and created all around the world. They will develop their ability to communicate their thoughts and interests through visual images.
The arts curriculum is divided into four strands:
- Dance
- Drama
- Music
- Visual Arts
