Overall Curriculum Expectations

Throughout this course, in order to promote a positive identity as a math learner, to foster well-being and the ability to learn, build resilience, and thrive, students will apply a variety of social-emotional learning skills to support their use of the mathematical processes and their learning in connection with the expectations in the six strands of the mathematics curriculum.

  • Identify your learning goals and objectives and use our resources to support your progress.
  • Start with our Curriculum Overview, which provides a comprehensive summary of the skills and knowledge covered in each subject.
  • Make use of our social-emotional learning (SEL) resources, which promote positive motivation and help build resilience and well-being.
  • Explore our six strands of the mathematics curriculum, including Number, Algebra, Data, Spatial Sense, Financial Literacy, and SEL Skills in Mathematics and the Mathematical Processes.

Students will learn about positive motivation, and how to use self-talk strategies such as โ€œIโ€™ve done this before, so I know I can do it againโ€ as encouragement, to help them succeed in math or to encourage their peers when solving problems.

The mathematics curriculum is divided into six strands:

  • Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) Skills in Mathematics and the Mathematical Processes
  • Number
  • Algebra
  • Data
  • Spatial Sense
  • Financial Literacy
