Overall Curriculum Expectations

The Grade 1 Health and Physical Education program focuses on providing students with the foundational knowledge and skills necessary to support their mental health and well-being, develop physical and health literacy, and cultivate the commitment and capacity to lead healthy, active lives. By participating in health and physical education activities in the classroom, gymnasium, outdoors, schoolyards, and community, students learn to make healthy, active living a part of their daily routine.

The expectations for Health and Physical Education are organized into four distinct but related strands:
